On December 17, MBK Entertainment announced that Chaeyeon and Cathy would withdraw from group's activities to participate in Mnet's new survival reality show, Produce 101.[1]

2016: Line-up changes, Happy Ending, Spell and sub-units[]

On March 7, 2016, without the two members, MBK Entertainment announced the addition of a new member to the group: Eunchae.[2] However, a few weeks later, on April 30, Seunghee's contract with the company expired and she decided not to renew it.[3]

When Produce 101 came to an end, Chaeyeon ranked 7th place and became a temporary member of the project group I.O.I. Cathy, on the other hand, returned to DIA and changed her stage name to Huihyeon.

The second unit, called L.U.B, is made up of members Jenny, Eunjin and Eunchae, and they would be responsible for the song "13/32", which would be released on December 31. On July 6, MBK announced that Jenny would be leaving the group to focus on her health. The agency also revealed that since last promotions with Summer Ade, Jenny had been suffering from severe knee pain, later being diagnosed with osteomalacia. Doctors advised her against continuing as an idol, and then, both Jenny and MBK agreed that she should henceforth stop all DIA activities and focus on her health and recovery.[9]

2022: Somyi's departure, "Rooting For You", departure from PocketDol Studio and indefinite hiatus[]

On January 9, 2022, PocketDol Studio announced that Somyi had officially left the group and terminated her contract with her company after a year and a half long hiatus.[14]

On May 11, Edaily reported that DIA is planning on releasing their last album in August before their contracts expire. Hours later, PocketDol Studio confirmed the statement about the group preparing an album, but also added that they haven't decided if it was going to be their last album.[15]

On September 6, DIA released a coming soon schedule, confirming that they would be releasing a digital single titled "Rooting For You" on the 15th of the same month.[16] Later that same day, it was announced that the single's release would be moved up one day to the 14th to coincide with the group's 7th anniversary.[17]

On September 15, PocketDol Studio confirmed that the members' exclusive contracts with the agency would be expiring on the 17th and their music show appearance had been cancelled due to Chaeyeon's injury.[18] On the same day, Yebin had a phone interview with Edaily and highlighted that despite DIA's contracts expiring, the group would not be disbanding and that they would still be a group to promote and release albums together in the near future, albeit the members being under different agencies.[19] With this, the group entered an indefinite hiatus.
