Choi Byung Chan (최병찬; or simply Byungchan) is a South Korean singer-songwriter and actor under New Way Company. He is a member of the boy group VICTON.
He is best known for being a contestant on the survival show Produce X 101.
Career[]
2016: Debut with VICTON[]
He debuted as a member of VICTON on November 9, 2016 with the group's first mini album Voice To New World.
2019: Produce X 101[]
In May 2019, he, alongside fellow member Han Seung Woo, became a contestant on the survival show Produce X 101. However, on July 11, it was announced he would be leaving the show due to health issues.[1]
2020–2022: Acting debut[]
On June 22, 2020, it was revealed that Choi Byung Chan had received an offer to star in the JTBC drama Live On as Kim Yooshin.[2] The script reading then took place on August 5 with the first episode to be aired November 17.[3] The final episode was aired on January 12, 2021.
On March 25, 2021, PlayM confirmed that Choi Byung Chan would be appearing in the KBS drama The King's Affection as Kim Gaon.[4] The drama's first episode aired on October 11, however, Byungchan's character does not appear until the fourth episode, which was aired on October 19.
On August 13, 2021, it was revealed that Choi Byung Chan would be appearing in the SBS drama Business Proposal as Shin Hamin. The drama's first episode was aired on February 28th, 2022.
2023: Departure from IST Entertainment, new agency[]
On April 20, it was announced that Choi Byung Chan, alongside Do Han Se and Jung Su Bin, would be leaving IST Entertainment following the expiration of their contracts.[5]
On May 15, it was reported that Choi Byung Chan had signed an exclusive contract with New Way Company to resume his activities as an actor.[6]
