C2K Entertainment (C2K 엔터테인먼트) is a South Korean entertainment company. It was founded in 2011 by Cho Kihoon, with N-SONIC as their first artist.[1]

The agency name is short for "Content Creative Korea".[2]

Controversy[]

2016-2018: N-SONIC's lawsuit[]

On May 9, 2016, N-SONIC returned to Korea from their concerts in Japan and immediately cut off communications with their agency, C2K Entertainment. They also sought out an attorney to terminate their seven-year exclusive contract.[3]

After the group failed to appear at multiple scheduled events after their return to Korea, C2K Entertainment took legal action against the group on May 24, asking for compensations for damages resulting from their breach of contract. On June 22, 2017, the Seoul Central District Court's civil affairs department took N-SONIC's side and ruled against C2K Entertainment.[4]

However, C2K Entertainment did not accept the verdict and appealed. In the second trial that followed, the court overturned the first-trial decision and ruled in favor of C2K Entertainment, partially winning the plaintiff's case. Dissatisfied with the outcome of the second trial. N-Sonic filed appeals through their respective legal representatives on January 23, while C2K Entertainment filed their appeals on January 15.[3]

On May 18, 2018, the court ultimately ruled against N-SONIC's lawsuit to terminate their contract.[5] According to the CEO, while the compensation fee was divided among the six members, two members paid the entire thing through their lawyers.[1]

  • The agency planned to debut a five-member boy group in 2016. However, due to N-SONIC's lawsuit against the agency, all of the trainees, except for Seongri, terminated their contracts and left the agency.[1]
