Bae Yumi (배유미) is a South Korean-American retired singer and actress. She is a former member of the girl group M.I.L.K. After their disbandment, she pursued several solo activities such as acting, before retiring from the entertainment industry in 2007.

Career[]

2001-2003: M.I.L.K.[]

On December 17, 2001 she debuted as a member of the girl group M.I.L.K with the studio album With Freshness.

The group disbanded in 2003.

2003-2005: Solo career, Futakoi Alternative, acting debut[]

After the cancellation of her contract with SM Entertainment, Yumi started her solo career as a musical actress.

In April 2005, she was revealed to be singing the opening track for the Japanese animation Futakoi Alternative. The song was titled as "New World".

In November 2005, she made her debut as a television actress in the television series "Winter Child".

2006-2007: "Secret Campus", "Eight Broken Fingers", retirement[]

In 2006, she participated in the drama series "Secret Campus" as Park Eun Ho. The first episode aired on May 10, 2006.

Some time in 2006, Yumi starred in the independent film "Eight Broken Fingers" as Jina. The film is joint venture between New Zealand and South Korea that shares the story of a New Zealander political writer who is stabbed and left to die in a dark Seoul alley.

In 2007, she was nominated as Best Actress in an Independent Film. The film also won Best International Narrative Feature at the Brilliant Light International Film Festival of Los Angeles.

"Eight Broken Fingers" was Yumi's last project. After February 2007, her Cyworld and Myspace accounts were no longer updated. It is presumed she retired due to prolonged inactivity from the entertainment industry with her whereabouts still unknown to this day.
