Baby V.O.X (베이비복스) is a five-member girl group. Formed by DR Music, they debuted on July 3, 1997 with their first studio album Equalizeher.

They disbanded on February 5, 2006. However, in 2024, they resumed activities at KBS' End of the Year Broadcast for the special stage.[1] In 2025, it was announced that they would be releasing 2025 versions of their songs.[2]

Their group name is short for Baby Voice Of Xpression.

History[]

1997: Debut with Equalizeher, Cha Yu Mi's departure, addition of Kan Miyoun[]

On July 3, 1997, Baby V.O.X debuted with their first studio album Equalizeher. The original lead single was "To Men (Democracy)". However, it was almost immediately banned on music shows due to its lyrical content, so another song off of the album, "Haircut", was promoted instead.

During promotions for "Haircut", Cha Yu Mi left Baby V.O.X due to health concerns, and was replaced by Kan Miyoun.

1998: Departures of Jeong Hyeon Jeon and Jung Si Woon, additions of Shim Eun Jin and Lee Gai, Baby V.O.X II[]

After promotions for EQUALIZEHER ended, Jeong Hyeon Jeon and Jung Si Woon left Baby V.O.X, and were replaced by Shim Eun Jin and Lee Gai.

On September 15, 1998, Baby V.O.X released their second studio album Baby V.O.X II, and the lead single "Ya Ya Ya". Later in the year, they promoted a second single, "Change".

1999: Lee Gai's departure, Yoon Eun Hye's addition, Come Come Come Baby[]

After promotions for Baby V.O.X II ended, Lee Gai was forced to leave Baby V.O.X due to her lying about her age, and was replaced by Yoon Eun Hye.

On July 21, 1999, Baby V.O.X released their third studio album Come Come Come Baby, and the lead single "Get Up". "Killer" and "Missing You" were also promoted. They achieved their first win on Music Bank with "Get Up" on August 8.

2000: Why[]

On May 15, 2000, Baby V.O.X released their fourth studio album Why, and the lead single of the same name. "Betrayal" was also promoted on music shows.

2001: Boyish Story[]

On June 14, 2001, Baby V.O.X released their fifth studio album Boyish Story, and the lead single "Game Over". "Doll" was also promoted on music shows.

2002: Baby V.O.X Special Album[]

On April 23, 2002, Baby V.O.X released their first special album, Baby V.O.X Special Album. It consisted of songs from their previous albums, as well as three new songs, including the lead single "By Chance".

2003: Japanese debut with Go, Devotion[]

On March 12, 2003, Baby V.O.X had their Japanese debut with their first Japanese EP, Go, which consisted of previously released songs, remixes, and a Japanese version of previously released song "Go".

On April 3, they released their sixth studio album Devotion, and the lead single "What Should I Do". They also promoted "Wish" on music shows. Another track on the album, "I'm Still Loving You", was recorded in Chinese and promoted in China.

2004–2006: Ride West, Shim Eun Jin and Yoon Eun Hye's departure, disbandment[]

On April 16, 2004, Baby V.O.X released their seventh studio album Ride West, and the lead single "Xcstasy", which featured Tupac Shakur and Floss P. "Play Remix", which was a remix of Jennifer Lopez's 2000 single "Play" and featured Lopez, was also promoted on music shows. This was their last release before disbandment.

On December 27, news broke that Shim Eun Jin would be leaving Baby V.O.X to pursue a solo career.

In July 2005, Yoon Eun Hye left Baby V.O.X to pursue an acting career.

On February 5, 2006, Baby V.O.X officially disbanded, with the remaining members going their separate ways.

2024: Reunion stage[]

On December 12, 2024, it was announced that Baby V.O.X would be reuniting on stage for the first time in 14 years on KBS' End of the Year Broadcast for the special stage that highlights different generations of K-Pop.[1]

2025: "New Baby V.O.X 2025.", YouTube launch, "New Breath : Baby V.O.X's Version 2025", New Baby V.O.X 2025 : The Best of Best[]

On February 1, 2025, through an episode of Mr. House Husband 2, member Yoon Eun Hye announced that Baby V.O.X would be releasing a 2025 version of some of the group's songs soon.[2] "New Baby V.O.X 2025." was released on February 13.

On February 20, Baby V.O.X shared in an interview with Cosmopolitan Korea that they would be releasing an album with ten 2025 versions of the group's songs and one unreleased track.[3]

On March 2, they opened their official YouTube account to document their new journey together.[4]

On March 12, the group released their second digital single "New Breath : Baby V.O.X's Version 2025".

On April 23, Baby V.O.X announced they would be releasing their first best album New Baby V.O.X 2025 : The Best of Best on the same day.[5]
