History[]

2015: Debut with "Sergeant Kim's Return from Vietnam", departure of Somi (Bomi) & addition of Bimby[]

BaBa made their official debut on March 24, 2015 as a six-member girl group with their digital debut single, "Sergeant Kim's Return from Vietnam" and members Pureum, Seoae, Somi (Bomi), Byulha, Hyoah and Dayul.

Following their debut, member Somi (Bomi) left due to a severe leg injury.[citation needed] Later on in the year, Bomi was replaced by a new foreign member named Bimby, who took the same stage name as her.

2016-2017: Comebacks with "Catch Me", "Funky Music", further lineup changes[]

Right before the single's release, the new Somi (Bimby) left the group due to visa issues.[citation needed] On February 25, 2016, BaBa had their first comeback with their second digital single, "Catch Me". During the promotion for "Catch Me", Byulha went on a hiatus due to health issues, before ultimately leaving the group.[citation needed] A third Somi (Hyewon) was then introduced to replace Bimby and performed Catch Me's promotions with the remaining four members.[citation needed]

In later months, the new Somi (Hyewon) along with two original members Hyoah and Dayul left the group. With only Pureum and Seoae left in the group, they became inactive for the remainder of the year and the first quarter of 2017.

Sometime in April, it was announced that three new members: Jinri, Seoli and Saei had joined the group.[citation needed] Together as five, Baba released their third digital single "Funky Music" on March 16, 2017. However after promotions, all members except Pureum left the group, while the third Somi (Hyewon) rejoined in November.[2]

In December, they announced that four new members would be joining Pureum and Somi (Hyewon). Over the next few days, the members were revealed to be Roha, Maum, Seungha and Starlight.[citation needed] Following their reveals, the group announced that they would make their third comeback in the following year as a six-member girl group.

2018-2019: Comeback with "Oh! My God!" & more lineup changes[]

On July 3, 2018, BaBa released their third comeback with digital single, "Oh! My God!". Although, yet again, all members except Pureum and Starlight left the group lineup.[citation needed] In December, four new members Johwa, Sooreem, Seyul and Hanbom were revealed. However, Hanbom left shortly after this and was replaced by Chaeha.[citation needed]

2020: Further lineup changes, cancelled comeback with "예뻐질거야" & disbandment[]

On February 8, 2020, BaBa's performance of their upcoming single "예뻐질거야" on Radio Soda was aired.[3][n 1] Three days later, it was announced that Johwa and Seyul had departed from the group as they didn't renew their contracts.[4][n 2] Around the same time, a new member also named Johwa joined the group. While she was never formally introduced, the first post mentioning her is from February 5.[5]

On June 7, concept photos, featuring the lineup of Pureum, Starlight, Sooreum, Chaeha and Johwa, were uploaded to the group's official accounts, making fans hopeful that BaBa will make a comeback soon.[6]

On June 14, member Pureum removed any mention of the group from her Instagram account and unfollowed the group's account. This was followed by Chaeha dong the same thing on June 18.. On June 20, the group's account changed their name to "_t__y_5" and unfollowed everyone. The remaining members: Starlight, Sooreem and Johwa, also deleted all mention of the group from their SNS accounts.[citation needed] Therefore, it was assumed that BaBa had disbanded.
