Beyond The Limit! Hello, we are BTL!
(Beyond The Limit! 안녕하세요, 비티엘입니다!)

—BTL

BTL (비티엘) was a boy group under Shinhoo Entertainment. Originally as nine, formed by Kiroy Company, they debuted on May 15, 2014 with the single "Beyond The Limit".

They presumably disbanded on April 28, 2016 as their agency closed down.

BTL is a short for Beyond The Limit.[1]

History[]

2014: Debut with "Beyond The Limit", "Yang Jung Seung Project 5." and Member Change[]

On May 12, 2014, Kiroy Company dropped the first teaser for their upcoming boy group BTL, which will debut on May 15.[2][3] They later revealed the nine members, that consisted of Allen, Do.Ka, Jay, Jean Paul, Jisu, Max, Q.L,Robin, and YuA.[4]

They made their debut on May 15 with the digital single "Beyond The Limit".[5]

During their initial promotions, BTL announced that they had signed with Star Tao Entertainment, a distribution company. Following this partnership, they began promoting across Asia.[citation needed]

On June 27, 2014, Yang Jung Seung, the president of Kiroy Company, released the single "어쩜우린왜닮았나요". Jisu, Jay, and some members of the upcoming girl group Ye-A from the same company participated in the recording.

For the remainder of 2014, BTL focused their promotions in Hong Kong and occasionally appeared alongside their labelmates, Ye-A.

In October 2014, member YuA was noticeably absent from BTL's performances and was replaced by a new member whose identity remained undisclosed.

On December 31, 2014, the group performed as a ten-membered unit for a special occasion. During this performance, Jay introduced Yeon and confirmed that he would be replacing YuA in the group. In the same performance, YuA announced his departure from BTL and revealed that he would be pursuing a solo career.[6]

2015: Jisu and Do.Ka's departure & Gold Moon[]

In April, it was announced that Jisu left for his mandatory enlistment, and the group would continue as eight members.[citation needed]

On May 24, 2015, Kiroy Company announced that BTL would be making a comeback in June.[7] Later that month, the company released teaser photos of the eight members and a teaser video for the "Gold Moon" music video on the 18th.[8] However, after the teasers were revealed, it was announced that the comeback was ultimately pushed back to July 9.[9]

On July 9, 2014, BTL held their first and last showcase for the Gold Moon era. However, no album release followed. It was later revealed that the album had been pushed back to July 23.[10] Despite this announcement, no release was seen on the 23rd either.

On September 8, 2015, Kiroy Company was acquired by SHINHOO Entertainment, and as a result, all BTL members transferred to the newly merged company.

After the merger, no public activity was seen from the group, and it was expected that the mini album would remain unreleased rather than being released. No official release occurred on the previously scheduled dates, and no further announcements were made regarding the album or the group's future.

On November 24, 2015, Do.Ka was spotted in a new boy group, Road Boyz, under the stage name Ha Neul. However, SHINHOO Entertainment made no official statement regarding whether he was still a member of BTL.[n 1] It is widely believed that he unofficially departed from the group, as a reserve member, Aelen, was introduced in BTL's social media channels.[citation needed]

After Aelen's introduction, no further updates about the group's future were given.

2016: Disbandment[]

On April 28, 2016, Shinhoo Entertainment declared business closure and BTL was presumed to have disbanded

2023: Peak Time[]

On January 21, 2023, it was confirmed that BTL (with four members: Jay, Robin, Yeon and Q.L) will partake in JTBC's Peak Time. Their silhouette was revealed through a performance of "BTD (Before The Dawn)" by INFINITE.[11] However, they were eliminated on episode 2.
