Asa (Korean: 아사; Japanese: アサ) is a Japanese rapper, singer and lyricist under YG Entertainment. She is a member of the girl group BABYMONSTER.

2023: Debut with BABYMONSTER[]
On December 30, 2022, YG Entertainment unveiled a teaser poster announcing their plans to debut a new girl group.[1] On January 1, 2023, the group's name was confirmed to be BABYMONSTER. In the same video, Asa could be seen practicing, seemingly confirming her status as a member of the group.[2]
On January 26, Asa was introduced through a live performance as the fourth member of BABYMONSTER.[3] They made their debut on April 1, 2024 with the mini album BABYMONS7ER.[4][5]

Trivia[]
- Asa and fellow BABYMONSTER member Ruka are the first female Japanese idols to debut under YG Entertainment.
- Prior to debuting with BABYMONSTER, she trained for 6 years.
- She started to learn to dance in Year 2.[citation needed]
- She is currently one of only two Japanese idols (both J-pop and K-pop) to hail from the Ogasawara Islands (an island 1000 km south of Tokyo, the capital of Japan).
- The other idol in question is Habu Suwa, a member of J-pop girl group Suisou to Clematis and former member of girl groups FiDZ and MERRY BAD END. She debuted two years before Asa debuted as a member of BABYMONSTER.
