Acid Angel from Asia (아시아에서 온 애시드 엔젤 or simply tripleS AAA) is the first sub-unit of the girl group tripleS. They debuted on October 28, 2022 with the mini album Acid Angel from Asia <Access>.[1]
On September 16, MODHAUS announced their First Gravity, which is titled Grand Gravity. For the First Gravity, two DIMENSIONs (units) were formed. The first sub-unit, DIMENSION A, is officially named Acid Angel from Asia, while the second unit, DIMENSION B, is named +(KR)ystal Eyes.[2] Each unit consists of four members, voted in by fans using the Cosmo App. To vote, fans click on the switch button to vote for the team placement of each member. After placing the two members into teams, the fan can vote using COMO that they have collected by buying NFT cards, called objekts.[3] The voting started on September 21, 2022 and finished on September 25. On September 22, it was announced that NaKyoung has been placed in Acid Angel from Asia,[4] followed by HyeRin on September 23,[5]YuBin on September 24,[6] and YooYeon on September 25.[7]
On October 10, MODHAUS started posting concept shoot photos.[8] On October 17, it was announced that their debut mini album, Acid Angel from Asia <Access>, would be released on October 28.[9]
On November 16, it was reported by Wikitree that the sub-unit had disbanded due to not reaching the sales goal of having 100k album sold. The members will continue to promote in the main group, tripleS.[10] However, in an interview with NME, MODHAUS's CEO Jaden Jeong clarified that the unit did not disband but won't be releasing any new albums and explained that "disbanding" does not have the same meaning in the tripleS system and that fans will be able to see the unit again in the future. He also stated that video content was still being released to boost sales.[11]
