—A-DEAN |
A-DEAN (에이딘) was a girl group under DIA9 Entertainment and Dean Entertainment. They debuted on September 11, 2013 with the release of their first digital single, "Dean Project Part.1". They disbanded sometime in 2019.
History[]
2013: Debut[]
In 2013, A-DEAN was formed as a kid girl group by Dean Entertainment with founding members Eunseo, Seoyeon, Sunyoung and Jimin. They made their debut as a four-membered group on September 11, 2013 with their first digital single, "Dean Project Part.1", which was part of a debut music project known as 'Dean Project'. The second single, "Dean Project Part.2" was released on October 11, 2013. Sometime afterwards, member Eunseo left the group.
2014-2015: Co-ed group, lineup changes[]
In early 2014, new member Taehee joined the group lineup and promoted with Jimin, Sunyoung and Seoyeon as a four-membered group for the release of "Happy Weekend", the third part of 'Dean Project'.[1] Jongwon, initially as the single's collaboration artist under the name ELVIN, eventually joined the group and converted them into a five-member co-ed group.[2]
In July 2014, Seoyeon left the group, while new member Jang Min (sister of Jimin) and YoonE joined the group and formed the sub-unit A-DEAN BLACK with Jongwon. Another two sub-units, A-DEAN S consisting of YoonE, Jimin, and Taehee, and A-DEAN P, consisting of Jang Min, Jongwon, and Sunyeong were formed in the same year. YoonE and Taehee left the group shortly afterwards, and A-DEAN continued with Jang Min, Jimin, Sunyoung and Jongwon.[3][4]
In 2015, new member Jia (later known as Hyojeong) joined the group while male member Jongwon left.
2016-2018: More lineup changes, Japanese activities[]
In 2016, Min, Hyojeong (formerly known as Jia) and Jimin formed the sub-unit A-Girls.[Notes 2]
In 2017, Somin joined solely for the group's Japanese activities as a member of the sub-unit A-DEAN Japan. She left the group shortly afterwards.
On June 11, 2018, Jang Min, Jimin, Sunyoung and Hyojeong teamed up for the group's final music release "Romantic World".[5]
2019: Final lineup changes, disbandment[]
In 2019, former BADKIZ member Yuki and new member Sora joined the group and promoted with Min (formerly as Jang Min) and Jimin in Japan, while Hyojeong and Sunyoung are assumed to have left due to absence from the group's activities in Japan.
The group silently disbanded in the same year shortly after Yuki and Sora's departure from the group.
Aftermath[]
Jimin joined US Media Group in 2019 and was a pre-debut member of their upcoming girl group, DMZA. However, she left DMZA in 2020 due to their delays in debut. In the later half of 2020, Jimin became a member of Deep Studio Entertainment's trainee group YOURS, but departed from the agency in April 2021. She later joined GKMNEO as a trainee. In 2022, she was revealed as a member of GKMNEO's upcoming girl group, PBT (later known as MuuTive).
Min went on to join GKMNEO as a dancer under the stage name PPOTTO. She later changed her stage name to Vaila. She also became a member of the dance crew Cracker. On October 24, 2022, she joined the girl group MuuTive as a new member under the stage name Haru.
Sora became a YouTuber under the nickname Jjugi. In March 2022, she was revealed to be a member of LPA Entertainment's new girl group Angel Rus under the stage name Ellie. However, she was later removed from the group due to personal circumstances on June 20, 2022. She made her solo debut on March 10, 2023 with the digital single "The Ocean" using her real name Joohyun.
The circumstances of the remaining former members are unknown.
