4TEN (포텐), formerly known as POTEN, was a three-member girl group under Jungle Entertainment. Originally as four, they debuted on August 26, 2014 with their first single "Tornado".
They silently disbanded in late 2018.
History[]
2014-2015: Debut with "Tornado"[]
In August 2014, Jungle Entertainment announced that they would be debuting a four-member girl group named 4TEN, consisting of Hyejin, Hyeji, TEM and Eujin.[1] The same month on the 20th, they released the teasers for 4TEN, as well as the rap track "Who's That", performed by TEM.[2]
On August 26, 4TEN made their debut with their first digital single, "Tornado". During October and November, they held multiple concerts with their labelmates M.I.B in the USA and various countries across Asia.[3][4]
2015: First comeback with "Why?", lineup and group name change, "Go Easy"[]
On January 5, 2015, the group made their first comeback with the digital single, "Why?".
On June 22, Jungle Entertainment announced that TEM and Eujin had left 4TEN and that three new members, Heeo, Yun, and Hajung, would be joining the group. Additionally, it was announced that the group would change their name to POTEN.[5]
On July 3, the group released their third digital single "Go Easy".
2016-2017: Hajung's departure, Jack of All Trades[]
In January 2016, it was noted that the group's name had been reverted to 4TEN, as indicated by posts from Jungle Entertainment, despite the group still having five members.[6]
In February, Hajung appeared to have been removed from 4TEN's photos on Jungle Entertainment's SNS.[7] Her departure was unofficially confirmed as she never appeared with the group again.
On February 23, the group released their first mini album Jack of All Trades, with the lineup consisting of Heeo, Yun, Hyejin and Hyeji.
On September 11, Yun shared a hand-written letter on the group’s fancafe, revealing that she was scheduled for surgery on September 27. In the letter, she explained that she had been suffering from neck pain since before her debut with 4TEN.[8] The following month, Yun confirmed on their fancafe that the surgery had gone well and she started her recovery without any complications.[9]
2017: MIXNINE, Yun's departure[]
For the entirety of 2017, the group became silent with barely any activities. In late 2017, Hyeji, Hyejin and Heeo auditioned for MIXNINE. Among the three members, only Hyejin and Heeo passed the auditions. They were eventually eliminated on the 7th episode, at #154 and #110 place respectively.[10]
In late 2017, Yun's name was briefly removed from Jungle Entertainment's website but was quickly added back. However, it was ultimately removed from their Twitter page sometime later, confirming her departure from the group.
2018: Makestar, cancelled comeback, disbandment[]
On March 13, 2018, 4TEN opened a Makestar project to fund their next single album. The project ended on June 18, 2018, raising ₩8,280,971, surpassing their ₩7,000,000 goal.[11] However, no updates have been provided since, and the group went silent. It is assumed that they disbanded sometime in mid/late 2018.
