1CHU (원츄) is a solo act under Moai Entertainment. Originally as a duo sub-unit of HeyGirls, they debuted on July 12, 2022 with the digital single "Oasis".
They became an independent group after HeyGirls disbanded on December 26, 2023.
With Sulhee leaving the group on February 6, 2025, the duo became a solo act with Chaerin as the only member left.
History[]
2022: Debut with "Oasis"[]
On June 28, 2022, HeyGirls announced the formation of a new sub-unit, 1CHU, set to debut in July.[1] One day later, HeyGirls confirmed that 1CHU, consisted of members Sulhee and Chaerin, will be debuting with their first digital single "Oasis" on July 12.[2]
2023: "Siren", HeyGirls disbandment[]
On April 3, 2023, 1CHU announced that they will be releasing their second digital single "Siren" on April 10.[3]
On December 26, Moai Entertainment announced that HeyGirls had disbanded, and that 1CHU would become an independent group.[4]
2024: "Punk Hot", IWU[]
On February 14, 2024, 1CHU announced that they will be having a comeback in spring 2024.[5] On April 3, they announced their third digital single "Punk Hot", set to be released on April 15.[6]
On December 23, 2024, Chaerin and Sulhee were revealed to be a part of the lineup of the upcoming girl group IWU.[7] The CEO of Moai Entertainment clarified that the group is not a sub-unit of 1CHU therefore making the duo and IWU independent to each other.[8]
2025: Sulhee's departure[]
On February 6, 2025, Moai Entertainment announced Sulhee's departure from the agency, and subsequently 1CHU, following her contract expiration. Meanwhile, 1CHU would continue with Chaerin as the sole member while preparing for her debut as a member of the upcoming girl group E11iVyn (formerly IWU).[9]
