14U (원포유; also known as One For You) was a fourteen-member group under BG Entertainment. They debuted on July 22, 2017 with the digital single "Very Very Very".
History[]
2017: Debut with "Very Very Very"[]
On April 17, 2017, 14U released their first single "Very Very Very". However, they official debuted on July 22, by holding their debut stage on MBC's Music Core for their song "VVV".
2018–2019: "Don't Be Pretty", "Compass (N.E.W.S)", Doyul's departure, new member Gun, disbandment, allegations of abuse[]
On February 1, 2018, they released their second single album "Don't Be Pretty".
On October 30, 14U released their third single album "Compass (N.E.W.S)". It was the group's first comeback as a thirteen-member group since the Doyul's hiatus in August 2018.
In January 2019, Doyul departed the group due to personal reasons. On February 11, 2019, BG Entertainment introduced new member, Gun, to their line-up, bringing the group back to fourteen members again[1]
On May 13, 2019, BG Entertainment confirmed the group had disbanded. The reason for it was known to be due to favoritism of a member, but it was revealed that it was due to the fact that a member with a 10-year age difference and the female agency head of the agency had been in an inappropriate sexual relationship for an extended period of time. In addition, this member is said to have had an inappropriate sexual relationship with a foreign fan, which was the direct cause of the breakup.
Upon learning of this fact, the families of the group members immediately demanded that their exclusivity contract with the agency be terminated, and the agency decided to terminate all but one member's contract and disbanded the group.
However, the representative of BG Entertainment stated regarding the reason for 14U's disbandment: "The rumors were exaggerated, but nothing like that happened. Each of them had different dreams, so the members and their parents disbanded under the agreement."[2][3]
