On November 11, 2024, 143 Entertainment stated that Gaeun would be entering a hiatus due to health reasons.[2] On November 22, JTBC's Crime Chief reported that a rookie girl group member, rumored to be Gaeun, was sexually assaulted and harassed by her company's CEO. On the same day, 143 Entertainment released a statement refuting claims of sexual assault while simultaneously confirming that the CEO had made sexual advancements with Gaeun.[3]

On April 28, 2025, it was announced that Gaeun's mother, along with the former A&R team leader of 143 Entertainment, would hold a press conference on April 29 led by the Hanbit Media Labor Human Rights Center to detail the extent of the verbal and sexual abuse perpetrated by 143 Entertainment CEO Lee Yonghak against Gaeun.[4] On April 29, it was announced that Gaeun's team has filed a lawsuit against Lee Yonghak. Furthermore, an apology letter from Lee Yonghak for sexual misconduct was revealed during the press conference.[5]
